Weighing Scale

A scale that shows 100 g precision but reads differently every time you step on it is worse than a simple one that's consistent. Body-fat percentages from foot electrodes are rough estimates.

Find your fit

A few questions about your situation, not about the product.

What are you tracking?
How many people will use it?

Answer all 2 questions to see the spec sheet to shop with.

The spec sheet, decoded

Precision vs repeatability

Displayed decimals vs giving the same reading twice in a row.

Why it matters

Weigh yourself three times in the shop — if readings jump, the sensors are poor.

What to check

100 g steps are useless if repeatability is ±500 g.

Load cells vs strain gauge count

The four sensors under the platform.

Why it matters

Four good load cells give stable readings; cheap scales use weak sensors that drift.

What to check

Check max capacity (usually 150–180 kg) fits everyone at home.

BIA body composition

Sends a tiny current through your feet to estimate fat/muscle.

Why it matters

Foot-only BIA misses the upper body and shifts with hydration; useful only as a trend.

What to check

Not recommended with pacemakers or during pregnancy.

Surface & feet

Tempered glass thickness and non-slip feet.

Why it matters

Scales must sit on hard flat floor; tiles yes, carpet no.

What to check

Rubber feet prevent slipping in bathrooms.

App and multi-user support

Syncing readings and recognising family members.

Why it matters

Handy for tracking trends over months; needs Bluetooth and a decent app.

What to check

Check the app doesn't require constant account and ads.

Before you pay

  • Test three consecutive weighings in the shop for consistency.
  • Confirm max capacity covers everyone in the house.
  • Place it on hard flat flooring, never carpet.
  • Treat body-fat readings as trends, not clinical numbers.

Common traps

  • !Buying for body-fat percentage accuracy that doesn't exist at this price.
  • !Ultra-thin glass scales with poor repeatability.
  • !Comparing weight across different scales.
